PepsiCo Thailand Marks 30 Years of Lay’s with Social Impact Campaign
The company planted trees in Bangkok’s Benjakitti Park and installed waste bins from recycled snack packaging to advance its sustainability commitments.
Bangkok, 27 June 2025 — Pepsi-Cola (Thai) Trading Co., Ltd. (PepsiCo Thailand), the producer and distributor of Lay’s potato chips, held the “PepsiCo for the Planet: Lay’s 30th Anniversary – Doing Good for Society” activity to celebrate the brand’s 30th anniversary in Thailand, aiming to promote environmental sustainability and foster tangible community engagement.
As part of the initiative, PepsiCo Thailand partnered with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), bringing together more than 200 employee volunteers to plant over 200 native Thai trees—including Bullet Wood, Ironwood, Bo Tree, and Negkassar—at Benjakitti Park, expanding green space in the city center and supporting the “Green Bangkok” vision under the “One Million Trees” campaign.
In addition, the company donated 5 eco-friendly bins made from over 50,000 flexible plastic packaging bags through an upcycling process—installed at various locations in Benjakitti Park to promote waste segregation and reduce plastic use in public spaces.
Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, stated, “The BMA aims to plant one million trees within 4 years to expand green spaces and enhance quality of life. Achieving this goal requires collaboration across all sectors, particularly the private sector, which plays a vital role in turning this vision into reality. PepsiCo Thailand’s initiative today contributes to environmental sustainability, helps reduce PM2.5 pollution, and supports the long-term well-being of Bangkok residents.”
Ms. Surivassa Sattarujawong, Corporate Affairs Director Thailand & Vietnam, Pepsi-Cola (Thai) Trading Co., Ltd., said, “PepsiCo Thailand prioritizes sustainable plastic packaging management by reducing plastic usage, increasing recycling, and developing recyclable packaging in line with the circular economy principles. In addition, we are committed to conducting business to create a positive impact on society and our world through the PepsiCo Positive (pep+) strategy.”
“As we celebrate Lay’s 30th anniversary in Thailand, we’re proud to have been part of Thai consumers’ lives over the years. We’re extending that commitment through our collaboration with the BMA to support the ‘Green Bangkok’ vision. Our employee volunteers planted trees at Benjakitti Park and donated eco-friendly bins made from flexible plastic packaging to promote environmental sustainability in public spaces.”
The “PepsiCo for the Planet: Lay’s 30th Anniversary – Doing Good for Society” activity reflects PepsiCo’s commitment to conducting business alongside sustainable social and environmental development. Beyond delivering smiles through the enjoyment of its products, the company strives to spread joy by actively contributing to a better world—reaffirming its pledge to join Thai people in protecting our planet.
Throughout its operations in Thailand, PepsiCo Thailand has consistently advanced environmental initiatives, including:
- Converting over 7.5 million flexible plastic packaging bags into functional items such as pallets, student desks, and recycling bins
- Donating 2 electric trucks worth 2.1 million baht to Wat Chak Daeng in Samut Prakan Province for use at its PET bottle and flexible plastic packaging donation center, supporting the recycling process
